Religion and Myths
Religious Beliefs
The Etruscan People had many Gods, most of who were modeled after those of the Greek peoples Gods. In the beginning, Etruscans worshiped their Gods outdoors on platforms of stone or Earth. Later in time, they built temples of wood, mud-brick, and clay on stone foundations. The temples that the Etruscans built had peaked tiled roofs adorned with sculptures. Etruscan people believed that the Universe was divided into provinces. Different Gods ruled each province. Humans lived in the center of the universe. They faced south toward the Gods of nature and of earth. To the right, lay the west. The Gods of death and of the underworld ruled this. To the left, lay the east. This was ruled by the Gods of the heavens. The Etruscan people believed that the west and the right were unlucky and the east and the left were lucky. They planned their cities and their temples so that they would be built facing the left and east.
Gladiators
A part of Rome religion was the gladiatorial games. They would have lots of gladiators fight to the death. Most of the gladiators where slaves that were bought by other people. They would bid on them too. After the gladiator won enough games, he would be released. Sometimes they would have to fight animals too. They would throw some people to the lions and watch them get eaten, occasionally the guy who was thrown would kill the lion but it didn't very often.
Myths
